31 Years after Treatment, Riegel Telescope Dentures Prove to Be Long-lasting and Reliable.
- Japan is the only developed country still using spring-loaded attachment dentures -
It has been 31 years since Shigeru Inaba, advisor for Inaba Dental Clinic (location: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; director: Yuriko Inaba) began dental treatment using the Riegel telescope method. He is still using the same dentures with no problems whatsoever.
At Inaba Dental Clinic we recommend treatment using the 'Riegel telescope method', the world's most advanced denture technique originating in Germany.
Most patients choose implants as treatment for lost teeth, however, implants cannot prevent further tooth loss. It is true that many elderly patients are coping with other diseases as well, such as gingivitis or weak jaws due to osteoporosis, making implants impossible.
Moreover, dentures covered by insurance have a metal springs known as clasps which hook onto remaining teeth. Pressure from these clasps may ultimately lead to further tooth loss.
The word riegel in Riegel telescope means 'bolt' (as in a deadbolt) in German. Using this method, a small key-like mechanism is set into the dentures and by fastening and unfastening this lock, dentures can be worn and taken off easily.
Furthermore, these dentures can be easily adjusted at any time to fit the mouth as it changes throughout the years. Remaining teeth are strengthened by the dentures by linking them and fixing them in place preventing further tooth loss. Dentures that until now have needed to be remade every time a tooth is lost are now able to last a lifetime with only minor adjustments.
There is no discomfort to the tongue and the fit is so natural that you will forget that you are wearing dentures.
Also, the high quality of the Riegel telescope method, which was first introduced to Japan from Germany 31 years ago by Inaba Dental Clinic's very own advisor, Shigeru Inaba, can be attested to by patients who received treatment at that time and are still using their dentures today. Over the last 31 years Inaba has administered treatment using the Riegel telescope method over 1,000 times.
