My teeth are ruined due to an eating disorder. I only have a few left.

Q. I am 40 years old now, but since I was 20 years I have been struggling with an eating disorder that I can't overcome and it has really done a number on my teeth. It has been a very difficult time for me. I was so embarrassed that I couldn't tell anyone. Now I only have a few upper teeth and a few lower teeth left. I was thinking about implants but I don't think I can do it because I'm afraid of surgery. At the moment I am using partial dentures, but every time I clip them to my teeth I feel an uncomfortable pulling sensation. It hurts so bad that I cannot even eat. I have no choice but to decline when my friends ask me to join them for a meal. I really want to take care of this problem so I am determined to seek consultation. Please let me know if you have any advice for me?

A. It must be really hard for you to feel like there is no one to talk to.
It is impossible to regain the teeth that you have lost, but in order to start anew you must keep a positive attitude.
It must be especially difficult for to suffer tooth loss while struggling with an eating disorder.

I am worried about having to live through a disaster like the March 11th earthquake and tsunami with dentures that don't fit well.

Q. Last year I had my teeth extracted and got dentures covered by health insurance. I hoped that I would get used to them after a while but so far I still can't stand them. I cannot eat or enjoy conversation. It has become troublesome even to meet with people.
I am worried about having to live through a disaster like the March 11th earthquake and tsunami with dentures that don't fit well. If I cannot eat properly then it is likely that my health would suffer under such circumstances. Ever since the earthquake, I have really been worrying about my dentures. I have almost no teeth left. Do you have any recommendations for someone in my situation? I am also worried about taking my dentures out at night.

A. People forced to live in shelters who have lost their dentures has become a worrisome health problem after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011. I have also heard cases of people who took their dentures out before going to bed and lost them during the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, causing them much suffering in the aftermath.
Quite a few patients have come in since the earthquake looking for a reliable pair of dentures. I think it is important to reflect during such times and think about what is necessary for our health.

If you only have a few remaining teeth, then I suggest Resilience telescope dentures. Resilience telescope dentures protect your remaining teeth without the need for extraction and are highly praised by patients who have gotten them.
The other day I saw a patient who was absolutely frightened after being told by another dentist that she needed to have her remaining teeth pulled and have all the spaces filled in with implants.
Resilience telescope dentures can be used without extracting any teeth and they are esthetically and functionally superior

Our teeth have a sensor around them called the periodontal membrane. The periodontal membrane actually stimulates the brain. So even if your remaining teeth wiggle, I think that you should do whatever you can to protect them as long as possible.

Also, dentures from our clinic can be let in while sleeping.
Dentures covered by health insurance are made with a soft resin. The inside of this resin tends to get dirty and unpleasant smells easily sink in. That is why conventional dentures must be taken out and sterilized at night. It is also said that you must rest the oral membrane at night.

With our dentures there is no need to take them out when you go to bed.
The resin used in our telescope false teeth and full dentures made using the maxillomandibular simultaneous impression method is made from materials that are strong against dirt and smells.
I hear that German dentists also recommend sleeping with your dentures in. Patients using our dentures often say, "They have become a part of me so I feel uneasy taking them out". We hope that you can also use our dentures as if they are a part of your own body and that you will rarely ever need to take them out.

Natural dentures with invisible metal parts [Telescope system]

It is embarrassing when other people can see the metal parts of your dentures when you laugh. Of course we agree with you completely. The metal parts supporting the dentures latch onto the front teeth so there is no way to hide them. Even if the metal parts are thin, they still stand out. This is a sure giveaway that you are wearing dentures.

As another alternative besides implants
Many of our patients have told us that they chose implants because of their displeasure in having visible metal parts in their mouths. But if there was another alternative besides implants... natural dentures with invisible metal parts, they would be a viable option.

Telescope system dentures that we recommend at our clinic don't have metal clasps, so not only is it nearly impossible for people to notice your dentures, but they also provide a firm bite allowing you to use them as if they were a part of your own body.

These dentures have a longer than 100 year history in Germany and are trusted throughout the world, but they have not yet spread in popularity so much in Japan.

Features of the telescope system
+ They are unnoticeable as dentures since they lack metal parts
+ They can be used as if part of your own body since they provide a firm bite
+ They have a longer than 100 year history in Germany and are trusted throughout the world

In recent years, the number of people rejecting implants is increasing. At our clinic, we inform our patients about both implants and the telescope system, but most choose the telescope system.
